Me: How am I going to last two whole days in a room with this man?

Cecily: Stop resisting and succumb to your desires. LOL

Me: I don’t have desires, fool.

I laughed when I looked down and saw Cecily calling. Bishop was outside of the car, putting in the code that would let us into the house he rented.

“What?”

“If you don’t have desires, then what do you call it? Admit it. You want that man.”

“That’s beside the point,” I whisper shouted.

“So, you do want him? I knew it. Baby, that is the whole point!” She cackled like a chicken. I wanted to reach through the phone and wring her neck.

“Shut up, Cecily! This is serious. He keeps trying to seduce me, girl,” I whined.

“Succumb!”

“I’ve waited too long. I can’t give in now.”

“OK, Mary Mary! I really don’t see the problem. You’re technically married.”

“I haven’t even said I was going through with this wedding,” I reminded her.

“Yet you just flew across the country with him.”

“It’s a date.”

“I wish I had a man that would fly my ass out for dates.”

“You could have one if you minded your own business as much as you mind mine.”

“Find out if he has a brother.”

“Get your ass back to work!” I ended the call.

Not only because Cecily was absolutely no help, but Bishop was walking back to the car.

“You done checking in?” he asked, opening the passenger door to help me out of the car.

“Yes. I had to make sure someone knew where I was.”

“Your folks know you are in good hands.”

“My folks proved they didn’t give a damn about me when they gave me away.”

“They didn’t give you away.” Bishop chuckled lightly. “Besides, don’t you want to be treated like an adult?”

“I want to be treated like an adult, not abandoned. No one even called to see how I was doing after a cross-country flight either.”

“Because they know you’re in good hands.”

“Am I?”

“Aren’t you?” he asked with a lifted brow.

“That’s left to be determined.”

“Let me know when you find out,” he said as he opened the door to let me inside.

My breathing hitched as I took in the mountain view from the picture window that spanned for an entire wall. The array of colors from the mountains and the trees lining them was absolutely gorgeous. From where I stood, I could see a deck with wicker patio furniture positioned on it. I couldn’t wait to get out there and read.

I was so taken aback by the view that I didn’t even notice Bishop had left my side until he returned with our bags. Neither did I smell bacon cooking until he asked if I was hungry. Suddenly, my stomach was growling. Bishop took my hand into his abnormally large one and pulled me toward the breathtaking view.

He led the way to the deck where there were two servers waiting with serving trays covered with silver domes. There was a round table covered with a white tablecloth. A centerpiece sat on the table with dozens of purple tulips and chairs covered with purple fabric that matched the flowers.
